Park Pre-K Classes and Mrs. Richey's Pre-K Team

During Inclusion Week across the state of Georgia, our school’s Pre-K students participated in meaningful activities focused on understanding and celebrating differences. Each general education Pre-K class had the opportunity to visit Mrs. Richey’s Pre-K inclusion classroom for a special learning experience.

Students explored the topic of disabilities through engaging read-aloud stories, practiced simple sign language, and learned about various tools and resources that help individuals with disabilities navigate daily life. These activities encouraged students to build empathy, awareness, and an appreciation for the unique strengths of every individual.

“Our theme for inclusion week was ‘different is okay,’ and we hope that this was a meaningful experience for everyone,” said Mrs. Richey.

During the week, Mrs. Richey was also recognized by the GA SEEDS program for her classroom’s outstanding work in promoting inclusion and supporting all learners. The Southwest Region Coordinator visited the school to present her with a special gift in recognition of the classroom’s efforts.

Mrs. Richey was quick to credit her team for the success of the program. “All of the inclusion week activities were only possible because of the team I work with, and this recognition belongs to our whole classroom, not just me,” she said. “I am very grateful for my two paraprofessionals, Carson and Natalie, who are dedicated to our students every day.”

Our school is proud of the meaningful conversations and learning that took place during Inclusion Week and grateful for educators like Mrs. Richey and her team who help foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
